Editions (Booklet 1& 2) based on the 8 reflection essays written by the 8 students from four different countries who participated in the Global Art Joint Program, 2018. (full introduction on the program:http://gap.geidai.ac.jp/GAP_JP/news_blog_2018/20181004043846.html) Inspired by several works of John Cage, Carl Andre and Jiro Takamatsu, artist played with words, vocabularies and sentences.
Besdies the offiocial photos and video clips of the joint program, the 8 reflection essays are also evidences of students' activies in Tokyo and Paris. Visual evidences show movements directly, but words can bring invisible thoughts to the surface; they are direct reflections of real feelings. Fragments of thoughts act as supplements to the photos and videos, which can make the invisible parts more vivid to viewers.
On the other hand, the struggle of language happened during the whole programme. Students with different backgrounds tried hard to communicate in English, while none of their mothertone is English. Mastering a Language is difficult; there is always something new to learn about it. By editing and rearranging fragments of the 8 English essays, artist intends to simplificate language itself, imitating the process of learning a language from the begining, and implying the real struggle of communication.
